The Bartow Police Department
has advised our office of some upcoming road closures in anticipation of
several events that will take place locally.
starting at 5 p.m., city crews will be closing Central Avenue from Main Street
to Davidson Street. Davidson Street will be closed from N. Broadway to Wilson
Ave. North Broadway Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Church Street.
Main Street will be open for traffic until 9:30 AM, at which time; Main Street
to Broadway Avenue, and Broadway South to Bartow High School will be closed for
the Just Say No Parade, but will re-open as soon as the parade passes.
These closures are necessary for events scheduled for Wednesday, May 10th. The
annual Just Say No Parade, comprised of 5th grade area elementary school
children, will start at 9:30 AM on 1st Avenue at the Chicken Shack. Following
the parade, the ‘Florida Grown Hometown BBQ’ hosted by Agriculture Commissioner
Adam Putnam will take place at the Historical Courthouse.
Access to the Historical Courthouse is available from Church Street. Polk
Street will be open, and parking around Ft. Blount Park will be open as usual.
No vehicular parking or traffic will be allowed within the closed areas. The
parking garage and City parking lots will be available for parking for the
department is encouraging all drivers to plan ahead and keep an eye out for
pedestrians. The attached map shows detour routes available during the
closures, and signs will be posted to help motorists navigate. Have a great day
